I am thoroughly enjoying my first year of teaching at Newberry. It has been such a pleasure getting to know the students and their families. I am a Chicago native, so nothing brings me greater joy than working with the kids of this city. I have a student-centered approach to learning and am dedicated to helping my students become life-long learners.
I started teaching in the Chicago Public Schools as soon as I graduated college, which was about 15 years ago. Over the course of those 15 years, I have gotten married, had two children and gone back to school to pursue higher education. I attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for both my undergraduate and graduate studies, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Master’s Degree in School Leadership. I am endorsed in Social Studies and in teaching Middle School. I am looking so forward to a great year in Social Studies and a great year with the Newberry community!
