Louis Navas

Mr. Louis Navas
4th Grade
Room 201

My involvement in education has been unrelenting, from elementary school to my life as an adult (I just turned 25, again). As a product of private schooling, I was exposed to many unique opportunities. Along with a quality education, I was taught to think of others, be open to diverse cultures and ultimately help our fellow man.

Before coming to this field I worked in Corporate America for eleven years. Although I excelled in my job, my real pleasure came from participating in a mentoring project.

I decided to return to school. Transitioning through Roosevelt’s program was the most attainable way of reaching my goal of becoming a qualified teacher. This was my chance of a lifetime to pursue my dream of teaching in order to directly impact the lives of children.

My philosophy is that children learn best when they are nurtured as well as challenged, when they are allowed to explore, experiment, and take risk. They learn when they feel good about themselves and others, and when they trust the environment and the people in their lives. They learn when they feel safe enough to take risk.

In addition to teaching fourth grade, I am a teacher representative on our Local School Council and also serve as Newberry school’s boys and girls soccer coach.
