I always knew that I would be a teacher.  After all, the women I loved most, my mother and grandmother, were teachers.  Through them I saw that teaching was a wonderful profession that I wanted to be part of as early as five years old.  Just ask my younger brother-who had to endure hours and hours as a student in my childhood classroom in the basement of our house!  I was born and raised in the Chicago area.  I attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, where I received  a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and I received a Master of Arts in Educational Administration and Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University.  I began my career in the Chicago Public Schools in 1990 and since that time I have held the positions of classroom teacher, curriculum coordinator and, most recently, Assistant Principal of Newberry Academy since 2000.  I assumed the role of principal July 1, 2010.

My husband and I live on the Northwest side of Chicago with our three children, two of whom are currently enrolled at Newberry, and the oldest of whom is a proud 2008 graduate of Newberry Academy.

During my tenure as Assistant Principal, I worked extensively in the area of curricular improvement and alignment; specifically, I focused on the development of Everyday Math and the reading and writing curriculum.  I will bring my enthusiasm for the continued success of Newberry to this new chapter of my life as Principal of what I consider to be the finest school in the city!  I look forward to a bright future working with the entire Newberry community.
