Amy Jarrett-Clancy teaches fourth grade at Newberry Math and Science Academy.  She earned her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.  During her first few years teaching, Mrs. Clancy discovered that she has a passion for teaching math!  She has developed this love for math through working with the University of Chicago’s Everyday Mathematics program, the Chicago Math and Science Initiative, and training as a CPS Professional Development Leader.  During the school year and the summer, she teaches educators from around the city to use the Everyday Math curriculum.  In 2008, Mrs. Clancy was one of three finalists in Illinois for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching.  She has also received her Masters Degree in Teaching Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and graduated in December 2010.  Mrs. Clancy lives with her husband, who is also a teacher, and their cat, Sneakers.
