Newberry Academy truly is a special school. This "special" status is easy to understand when we look at the various components of the school community. Our School

Newberry is an Option for Knowledge Magnet Elementary School with a focus on math, science and technology. The science program offers exceptional experiences in physical and biological disciplines with an emphasis on observation, investigation and critical thinking. Newberry has adopted the University of Chicago "Everyday Mathematics" Program which is producing highly positive standardized test results. It has a strong basic curriculum in the primary grades that gives students the skills to transition to more independent learning in the upper grades.  more >>

Tuition-based PreSchool

Tuition-based preschool (TBP) offers parents an affordable full-day school-based educational program for preschool children ages three and four. This program is offered in a limited number of elementary schools. All participating children are required to pay tuition. TBP is part of Mayor Daley's "Setting a Course for Early Childhood in Chicago" initiative that is designed to support and make universal preschool services available to all children and their families.  more >>
