Did you know that Chicago Public Schools allots teachers only $100 to outfit their classrooms with the books, supplies, decorations, technology, and other items that keep learning up-to-date, hands-on, and just as important – fun? For this reason, Newberry relies on the voluntary participation and support of our parents, grandparents, alumni, community leaders and friends. We need you to help sustain our present and build our future. Help make a difference.
What are the goals?
This year our goal is to raise $50,000!
The goal is high, but together we can make it happen!
Where do these funds come from and what is done with the funds raised?
- The Spring Benefit fundraiser makes achievement of Newberry’s vision possible with your financial assistance through event sponsorship, in-kind donations, admission fees, online and live auction proceeds.
- This year, you can be sure that more proceeds than ever from your ticket cost will go to support education.
- We are proud to announce that we raised over $18,500 from the 2010 Online Auction and the majority of those funds went to pay for the lease of new computers throughout the school.
What is the Wish List for this year’s event?
- Afterschool programming for all students both enrichment and remedial.
- Cost of providing Study Island for all classes 1-8
- Replenish the library with new books-especially reference
- Teacher professional development opportunities-in addition to sub coverage
What can I do to help right now?
- One of the biggest components of the Spring Benefit will be the online and live auction.
- This year we will continue with our online auction and integrate it with the live event.
- Our Donations Committee is hard at work securing these items but we need your help to in order to make our online and live auction exciting and magical.
- Please take a moment to look over the attached letter and form to use when obtaining your donation as well as a memo from the Fundraising Committee to see how you might be able to contribute.
