11/23/2011- New Group!
Mrs. McKinney, Mr. Husa, and Ms. Holpuch are holding the first group meeting today for students whose parents are divorced or separated. Students will meet at lunch with similar-aged peers to talk about their experiences. Students can be referred to this group by parents, teachers, or students. The group will meet once-a-week until winter break.
11/28/2011- 4th Grade Boys Group
Today, Mrs. McKinney and Ms. Holpuch will be starting a team-building group for all 4th grade boys. The boys will participate in the group for 4 weeks, during their Second Step curriculum block. The group will focus on the boys getting to know one another through team-building activities and cooperative play.

11/15/2011 & 11/22/2011- 7th Grade High School Meetings
Mrs. McKinney and Ms. Holpuch will be meeting individually with each 7th grade student to discuss their plans for high school. Students will be given their 6th grade ISAT scores and their 6th grade grades, and will use these as a tool to discuss and develop a plan for 7th grade that will allow them to attain their high school placement goals.

11/1/2011 – 11/14/2011- Classroom Guidance: Letters of Recommendation
Starting on November 1st, Mrs. McKinney, Mr. Collins, and Ms. Holpuch will be going into the 7th and 8th grade homerooms and giving a presentation on proper procedures for requesting letters of recommendation.

11/1/2011- Classroom Guidance: High School Options
Mrs. McKinney and Ms. Holpuch will be going into the 6th grade Social Studies classroom today to deliver a guidance lesson to introduce students to the different high school options within CPS.
