1/12/2012: Teen Health Council
There is a grant opportunity available to Chicago schools to help them implement a program that focuses on decreasing obesity and increasing healthy lifestyles for the students.
To participate in this grant opportunity, Newberry needs student volunteers (from 7th and 8th grade) to meet together and develop a plan for the school that focuses on exercise, healthy eating, and nutritional education. The students will work with Mrs. McKinney and Ms. Holpuch along with the help of Mr. Maza and the school nurse, Ms. Wilson.
We will be contacting the 7th and 8th grade students to ask for volunteers to be on the committee. Students will be able to gain leadership experience as well as community service hours from participating on this health council.
